In March 2018 a first joint event of MPGU Buddy club and foreign students called “Welcome Meeting” took place.
The main objective of the event was an acquaintance of newly arrived foreign students and trainees with the rules of Moscow Pedagogical State University, discussion of the plan of events for the spring semester 2017-2018, and most importantly – taking away tension from getting into the new environment.
The meeting was organized by the staff of the International Cooperation Department together with the students of MPGU Buddy club. The guests were told about the directions of their social and cultural activities they are waiting for at MPGU in the new semester, they offered a plan of events in which they tried to include projects that reflect the diversity of Russian culture and, importantly, take into account the possible language barrier of newcomers. Student ideas, considered at the organizational meeting of MPGY Buddy club, were the basis of such projects as «Volunteering in Moscow Pedagogical State University», a musical and poetic evening, a historical quest about Moscow, etc.
Both Russian and foreign students with great pleasure participated in the process and showed very high skills of self-organization. The audience was filled with lively conversation, laughter and applause.
In the final part, students were given the opportunity to freely discuss the event with a cup of tea or coffee. Everybody got a real pleasure from communication and new acquaintances.
