On 1st Novembera celebration due to 145th anniversary of the Moscow State University of Education took place at the State Kremlin Palace. Employees, students and graduates of the university, as well as honorary guests participated in the festival. At the same place Moscow State Pedagogical Institute celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1972.
Before the official part of a celebration, the invitees visited a unique exhibition «Origins of MPSU-145», dedicated to the university history. From the Kremlin Palace stage highly respected guests congratulated University for its 145th anniversary. Among such guests were the head of the Committee of the Federation Council for Science, Education and Culture Zinaida Dragunkina, Director of the Department of State Service and Personnel of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia Mikhail Bakutin, and Vice President of the Academy, President of the Russian Psychological Society Yuri Zinchenko.
A celebration consisted of a rich two-hour program with congratulatory speeches, historical excursions and performances of not only by MSPU students, but also some of celebrities such as — Alexander Marshall, Oleg Gazmanov, Valeria, Sergei Penkin.
The keynote of the program was the history of MSPU in the context of the Russian history — from the creation of the Moscow Higher Women’s Courses till the present day. This history became alive in the format of a sand show performed by university students.
Alexey Lubkov, the rector of MSPU stated a new motto of the university today as «Faithful to traditions, open to innovations». Among the key principles of the educational process are attention to the individuality, spiritual development and active citizenship among students. A strong scientific basis is combined with practice-oriented training, content of education is balanced with a modern environment and education accessibility for students with disabilities. The University is committed to the most active international cooperation, the number of foreign students is constantly increasing, its positions in the BRICS and SCO countries are strengthening every month. The mission of MSPU on the international arena is to become a leader in promotion of Russian language abroad.
Also, the rector said that «A teacher is not just a profession, but a high mission and service. This understanding became more asserted in society recently. A competition to become a university student is growing as more winners of challenges and holders of high scores are coming to us. An experiment which began 145 years ago, continues successfully!»
