The congress held on March, 7, was dedicated to the achievements of Russian network UNITWIN/UNESCO which “promotes international inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge sharing and collaborative work”. It was the fourth chair congress since 1992. On March, 6 Azoulay met Russian President, Vladimir Putin. They discussed promotion of peace, development of humanitarian and scientific cooperation. Putin underlined that Russian government has always been supporting UNESCO and expects further assistance and guidelines from the organization. Azoulay responded that she hopes her visit would contribute to tightening bonds between UNESCO and Russia and to solving contemporary global problems.
The plenary meeting of All-Russian UNESCO Chair congress took place on March, 7 in Kazan city hall. Mintimer Shaimiev, State Councilor of Tatarstan Republic, UNESCO Special Envoy on intercultural dialogue shared with the participants new educational projects developed by the Republican Fund “Restoration”. Azoulay, in her turn, spoke that UNESCO activity in cultural and educational development demands multidisciplinary approach. She said that education should evolve while preserving linguistic and cultural diversity. Mny representatives of different Russian universities also took part in the plenary session. They dedicated their speeces to the issues of sustainability, scientific mobility and international communications.
