On February, 21 a seminar “A lesson of living history” dedicated to withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. The seminar was part of the educational program aimed at prevention of extremism in Russian educational organizations. Soviet-Afghan war veterans, generals and officers, military specialists, teaching staff and students of the Institute of History and Politics took part in the discussion. The seminar was opened with the geeting speech from MPGU Rector A. Lubkov and Head of the Center of Prevention of Prevention of Religious and Ethnic Extremism K. Machabeli. The participants saw the exhibition “Special tasks of the Soviet border guards in Afghanistan” with unique documents, photos and videos transfered from Central Museum of Federal Security Service Border Patrol.
Thanks to the interactive seminar MPGU students not only watched films about the historical events, but also had a chance to have a discussion
with people who experienced them first-hand.
