On January, 16 Russian Institute for Advanced Studies (RIAS) and Institute of Philology held a seminar on teaching immigrant children as part of Jean-MonnetErasmus EU program, «Development of a systematic approach toward teaching groups of immigrants and disabled people: a unified approach to pedagoical education». The program manager R. Gibadulin at the beginning of the seminar emphasised that Russian Institute for Advanced Studies implements the third project of Jean-MonnetErasmus EU program. Such projects as CenterofExcellence show a significant experience in international scientific activity that RIAS and MPGU have accumulated throughout the years.
As many speakers underlined, the migration policies is a burning issue both relevant for Russi and EU. Language politics, teaching Russian as a foreign language could be vital in finding a key to adapting migrants in a new sociocultural environment. The seminar participants agreed that forming a postive impression of Russia and Russian culture in immigrant children is one of the important factors for their future successful integration into Russian society.
