Within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the Syrian Arab Republic, during Moscow International Forum «Religion and Peace» at MPGU a Russian-Syrian round table was held on the topic «Modern methods of teaching Russian language in educational institutions of Syria». Participants of the two countries discussed development and promotion of the Russian language and culture in the Syrian Arab Republic. The round table was organized by the Center for the Prevention of Religious and Ethnic Extremism.
The event was attended by Minister of Education of the Syrian Arab Republic Darem Tabaa, Rector of the University of Damascus Mohammed Yasar Abdeen and other representatives of the education sector, scientists, teachers, members of parliament and religious leaders of the Syrian Arab Republic.
MPGU Rector Alexey Lubkov expressed confidence in achieving high results in teaching the Russian language in the Syrian Arab Republic, and also noted that MPGU is the main operator for the development of the Russian language in Syria.
Minister of Education of the Syrian Arab Republic, Darem Tabaa, thanked organizers and for invitation and made a proposal to open online Arabic classrooms on the basis of MPGU. The Minister also noted that the republic’s plans are to make Russian the second official language in Syria.
Signing an agreement between Moscow State Pedagogical University and Damascus University became a symbol of consolidation of joint cooperation.
