On March 10, 2017 MSPU Rector A.V. Lubkov had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Guatemala in the Russian Federation Guisela Godinez Saso at the territory of the embassy of the Republic of Guatemala in Moscow.
Parties discussed possible perspectives of cooperation between MSPU and University of San Carlos, the oldest state university in Guatemala and the biggest in Central America.
According to Mrs. Godinez Saso it would be especially actual now to begin the rapprochement of our Universities – expecting the establishment of the department of the Russian language at University of San Carlos. This will require the involvement of qualified teaching staff and the organization of language practice in Russia. Mrs. Godinez Saso showed great interest in the long-term experience of our University in the sphere of teaching the Russian language and methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language that are not only studied but also developed at MSPU.
Reputedly the Russian language should become the priority area of universities cooperation at the first stage. It can include exchange of lecturers, students internship and practices.
The realization of this programme can allow in future “open doors” for cooperation in other areas of humanitarian disciplines: history, archeology (Guatemala is the birthplace of Maya civilization), cultury, sociology and art.
MSPU Rector A.V. Lubkov was invited to an official visit to Guatemala for an official meeting with University of San Carlos rector and signing an agreement of cooperation.
