On November 11, 2019 the first round table between Institute of interreligious dialogue and MPGU was held at our university. A number of distinguished guests from Latin America visited Moscow, representatives of Orthodox, Catholic, Muslim, Jewish religious communities, as well as scientists researching religious studies, theology, history gathered in MPGU.
Argentine delegation was headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine republic to the Russian Federation Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio, theologist, editor of the religious supplement to the newspaper «Clarín» Guillermo Marco, lawyer and Doctor of theology of the Jewish seminary in New York, Professor of theology of Latin American rabbinical seminary, rabbi of Bet-El community in Buenos Aires Daniel Goldman, chairman of the Committee of culture of the Legislative council of Buenos Aires imam Omar Abbud and others. Apostolic Nuncio to the Russian Federation archbishop Celestino Migliore, representatives of the Orthodox Church of the Czech lands and Slovakia to the Patriarch of Moscow and Russia archimandrite Seraphim, executive secretary of the Synodal Committee bishop Timofey Chaikin, authorized representative of Coordination center of muslims of the North Caucasus Shafig Pshikhachev and others. The round table was moderated by advisor to MPGU rectorate, assistant professor of the Department of philology, ThD Miguel Palacio.
Participants of the round table discussed interreligious relationship between Russia and Agentine, development of religious studies, theology, history. The parties shared opinions on mutual understanding between different religions and confessions. Dialogue, peaceful co-existence and mutual respect to each other were considered by the parties necessary for the future cooperation. It was also suggested to organize annual meetings in Argentine and Russia for further promotion of the dialogue between religions. At the end of the round table the parties signed a follow-up resolution.
