Annual Russian language Olympics «Let’s Go to Moscow» took place via support of Beijing NormalUniversity (BNU) and MPGU on April 7-8. The jury included the Director of the Institute of Philology E.G. Chernysheva, Deputy Director of the Institute of Philology M.V. Sarapas and professor of the Department of Russian Literature V.K. Sigov.
At the opening of the Olympics, MPGU Rector A.V. Lubkov wished the participants success, noting the importance of mastering the Russian language, history and culture of the country, studying national characteristics, mutual respect and understanding.
89 finalists from 16 universities of China presented their written works and oral presentations. Topics were addressed to the history and culture of Russia, the relationship between Russia and China: «Russia and China: the past, the present, the future», «Interesting pages of Russian history», «Nature and unique sights of Russia», «Work and leisure» and others.
The winners of the Olympics are representing various provinces of the People’s Republic of China, they are given the right to free-of-charge training in MPGU Institute of Philology. At the final ceremony, all the winners and prize-winners were awarded with diplomas and gifts from MPGU. On behalf of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, the winners were congratulated by the Director of the Center, the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo O.A. Melnikova.
A.V. Lubkov supported the proposal of his Chinese colleagues to promote the joint institute project within the framework of the agreement between BNU and MPGU.
Rector of BNU, Dong Qi, expressed interest in developing cooperation in the natural sciences, including training courses, summer schools, faculty exchange, etc.
BNU Vice-rector Zhou Zouyu noted the importance of the Olympics «We are going to Moscow,» and it was decided to hold the Olympics for MPGU students «Let’s go to Beijing».
