The program, «Modern Technologies in English Teaching,» appeals to all graduates of a bachelor’s program with sufficient command of the English language and a willingness to apply their knowledge to teaching others.
MSPU’s Department of Foreign Languages has developed the program using a synthesis of innovative foreign approaches to English teaching and the vast experience of the professors of the department, accumulated in the 53 years of the department’s existence. Veronika Vladimirovna Borshcheva, Ph.D. in Education and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, is the author and director of the new program.
All aspects of the program, including lectures, seminars, and meetings with professors, will be carried out in English, enabling the students to fully immerse themselves in a foreign-language educational environment.
All of the professors in the new master’s program are certified to teach English internationally. They have been trained in the U.S. and Great Britain and are experienced in working with education technology.
The innovative program will include pedagogical projects, meetings with professionals from international publishing houses and educational institutions, and participation in conferences, workshops, and other scientific events.
From the start of the program, students will have the opportunity to apply their studies in a practical environment. Each student will receive a personal tutor who will introduce them to the pedagogical process. Students will observe university classes, help develop assignments and materials, and lead undergraduate workshops. By the end of the program, each student will conduct full-scale undergraduate classes.
Over the course of the program, students will learn how to use communication-based teaching methods alongside blended learning technology and authentic textbooks. The professors of the department are well-versed in the use of information technology, and use resources such as mobile learning, MOOCs, wiki pages, podcasts, social networks, and other education platforms daily in their own classes.Every student of the program will observe the implementation of these methods and resources in a classroom environment and learn how to apply the technology to their own future teaching work.
The program will pay special attention to mastering research techniques. Several classes of the curriculum are dedicated to writing articles in English, using proper research methods, and correctly presenting results.
The department offers further post-graduate study in methods of foreign language teaching, where interested students can continue their education after the master’s program.
The Department of Foreign Languages looks forward to meeting creative, interested, and active learners who are enthusiastic about teaching English and dedicated to continuing their own education. We will explore the pedagogical process together!
