On November 21, 2019 Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank (BSPU) (Minsk, Belorussia) started the celebrations of its 105th anniversary. Delegations from Russian, Kazakh, Romanian, Armenian, Dominican and Chinese universities. The celebration started in the Rector’s office. Alexander Zhuk, BSPU Rector, greeted the guests and adressed them with a speech «BSPU: first 5 years of the new century».Alexander Zhuk outlined the latest achievements of his University and awarded cetrificates of merit to students, teachers and to those journalists and media workers who contributed to covering BSPU activities.
According to Alexander Zhuk, «one of the contemporary international trends nowadays is education related to sustainable development. BSPU endorses association «Education for sustainable development» that works with more than 50 educational establishments. One of the main achievements was improvement of the quality of pedagogical education and increase of the popularity of pedagogical education in our country. Since 2014 BSPU sucessfully executes the state budget-based enrolment plan. In addition, in 2019 the competition for state-sponsored places has increased — 2,5 people for 1 place».
At the end of the ceremonial meeting rectors of MPGU and BSPU signed an agreement of cooperation.
Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank is a leading pedagogical university in Belorussia. According to the world ranking of universities webometric sites (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), updated in January 2017, BSPU site position takes 9th place among Belarusian universities. BSPU comprises 3 institutes, 10 faculties. More than 14,000 students study there, 1350 internnational students among them.
The UN/UNDP in the Republic of Belarus has awarded the University a Certificate of appreciation for socially meaningful activities in achieving the Goals of sustainable development and the creation of an inclusive society in Belarus.
