Between 26 January and 1 February MPGU delegation headed by S.A. Zasorin, the director of the Institute of Foreign Languages, was at City Unity College (CUC, Athens, Greece). The delegation consisted of 20 people, including E.A. Khamraeva, head of the department of pre-university learning of Russian as a foreign language; L. V. Popova, professor of the department of psychology of the Faculty of pedagogy and psychology; A.V. Zviagintseva, deputy director of the Institute of Foreign Languages; students of the Institute of Foreign Languages from Russia, China, Vietnam, Mongolia.
The partner relations between our Universities were finalized. The new cooperation agreement approved in Moscow by MPGU Rector, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education A.B. Lubkov, was signed in Athens by the President of CUC, President of Arab – Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development H. Geronikolas.
The present agreement opens the wide range of academic collaboration between two organizations. The Parties discussed the following forms of cooperation: English courses at the base of CUC for students and lecturers of MPGU; mutual exchange of groups for short-termed linguo-culturological internships to study Russian, Greek and English languages; conducting joint scientific symposiums and conferences; invitation of lecturers from both sides for holding lessons and master classes; development of double degree programmes; establishing of permanent centre of humanitarian researches and cross-cultural communication.
City Unity College is a private higher education institution working since 2010 on bachelor, master and post-graduate licensed programmes of Cardiff Metropolitan University (the United Kingdom) in the field of business and management, finance, psychology, computer technologies, sailing, tourism and hotel management, physical training and sports. All these programmes are implemented in the English language. Graduates are issued diplomas of the basiс British University. There is the language centre offering among other things learning the Russian language. There is the branch of this College in Nicosia (Cyprus).
The first action was realized within the framework of the agreement: one-week training programme of the English language at CUC base for students and lecturers of MPGU. Lectors from USA and Greece hold interactive lessons on the following topics: “Innovative platforms of learning English”, “English slang through social networks”, “Modern platforms of Greece education system”, “Byzantine civilization and orthodox Christianity”, “Global challenges and future of Greece in XXI century”. The participants got certificates. Exciting excursions in English were also held: an overview of Athens sights, visiting of Acropolis and its museum, walk on the coast of the Aegean Sea, acquaintance with the temple of Poseidon.
S.A. Zasorin and E.A. Khamraeva had a meeting with A.M. Khomenko, the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Greece, director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Athens. Professor Khamraeva held scientific-practical seminars for Russian as a foreign language teachers and teachers of general and additional education within the framework of cross year of language and literature of Russia and Greece.
The nearest cooperation plans with Athens partner – establishing summer schools in English at Ithaca island for students of different MPGU Institutions at the end of June – the beginning of July 2019.
