On August 21, 2023, TASS hosted a full-time press conference dedicated to summing up the results of the admission campaign to leading Russian universities in 2023.
Rector of the Moscow Pedagogical State University Alexey Lubkov, Rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Nikita Anisimov and Rector of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University Mikhail Gordin told about the features of the last admission campaign, passing points, the most popular faculties and areas of training.
During his speech, MPGU’s Rector Alexey Lubkov highlighted the university’s significant year—its 150th anniversary coinciding with the Year of a Teacher and Mentor. He discussed the admission campaign’s outcomes and relevant issues amidst current ideological complexities.
MPGU’s Rector discussed general applicant admission and budget placements for bachelor’s and higher education. Top programs at MPGU in 2023 were Foreign Language (English), Russian Language and Literature, Primary Education, Psychology, and Social Pedagogy, along with History and Social Studies.
Then Alexey Lubkov focused on the topic of a new history textbook for high school students, according to which students will begin training on September 1.
In this textbook, among other things, there will be a chapter on a special military operation in Ukraine. There are also chapters dedicated to the events of 2014-2023 in Ukraine. The authors of the textbook represent this country as an ultranationalist state in which any opposition is persecuted, and emphasize that the beginning of the SMO was supported by the absolute majority of Russians. The starting point of the special operation is called the events of the Maidan, which is described as an illegal coup d’etat committed by nationalists.
In conclusion of his speech, Alexey Lubkov thanked all federal government agencies, starting with the founder of the MPGU – the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, who assisted the University in fulfilling the tasks assigned to it by the state as the leading educational center of the country.
