On September 18–21, 2023, a delegation of the Weinan Normal University (WPU), headed by Mr. Zhuo Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the WPU, paid an official visit to Moscow. This university is a long-time partner of MPGU; back in 2015, the Universities created a joint Moscow Institute of Arts (MIA) at WPU – a unique project for both educational institutions, supported by the Ministries of Education of both countries. As part of the activities of the institute, educational activities are carried out in three areas – music, painting, preschool education. 779 people have already graduated from MIA. Almost a third of them have continued their postgraduate studies.
On September 19, guests from the People’s Republic of China were welcomed by the Rector of Moscow Pedagogical State University A.V. Lubkov in the main building. In the first half of the day, a meeting between the University management staff and representatives of the WPU took place to discuss prospects for further cooperation. The parties expressed satisfaction with many years of fruitful collaboration. During the meeting, ways to improve the existing educational process were outlined, and possible new areas of cooperation at the master’s and postgraduate levels were identified. The parties noted the need to make changes to the existing Agreements due to changed legislation in the field of education in the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The need to make adjustments to existing curricula was also discussed. The parties came to the conclusion that it was necessary to revive the Coordination Council and scientific and methodological centers to facilitate the implementation of joint projects, as well as to hold regular meetings of the working group.
At the end, the Parties summed up preliminary results and thanked each other for the open conversation. The meeting participants expressed confidence that the development of this partnership will contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience between institutions of higher education in Russia and China and strengthen friendly relations.
The second working day of the visit of the WPU delegation was held within the walls of the art and graphic faculty of MPGU, where, in the presence of guests from China, students of the MPGU Lyceum, undergraduates and graduate students of the art and graphic faculty, an exhibition of student works was inaugurated. During a short tour of the faculty, members of the delegation visited design, printing, painting and wall painting workshops, saw the live learning process, and talked with Chinese students.
The working meeting of the delegation with the deans of the art, graphic and music faculties, as well as the faculty of preschool pedagogy and psychology, which has been implementing programs for students from Weinan for the sixth year, was held in a warm atmosphere of mutual understanding and a focus on developing new forms of joint work. The parties demonstrated a unified understanding of a number of issues related to the vision of tasks to expand interaction between MPGU and WPU.
The official visit of the delegation of Weinan Normal University to MPGU was eventful and highly fruitful.
