Admission for foreign citizens

Dear international applicants!

Here you can find all necessary information to successfully apply to MPGU.

There are 2 ways to apply:

  1. Through International Relations Office
  • paid tuition — an applicant signs a contract with MPGU (through International Relations Office). According to the contract, students cover all tuition fees for their education
  • ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO (Ministry of Education program) quota — a student is ensured a place at the University, tuition fees are covered by the government and students receive scholarship.
  1. Through admissions office both for paid and free tuition
  • Kazakhstan, Tadzhikistan, Belorussia, Kyrgyzstan citizens
  • Sootehestvenniki (compatriots) program. In this case an applicant has equal rights as Russian citizens and does not receive benefits as orphans, disabled people, etc.). To receive status of compatriot the applicant should prove kinship (bloodline connection) to USSR citizens, if the applicant was not born on the USSR territory.

 

2021 Application procedure: step-by-step guide
From June 19 to October 15 MPGU receives applications for apprenticeship, BA, MA, PhD, Russian as a foreign language programs.

Application procedure for BA,MA,PhD:

Step 1

Find tuition fees for your program

Tuition fees for 2021/22 

Approximate tuition fees for 2 semesters (1 year) full-time BA program —  260 000 — 270 000 rubles

Approximate tuition fees for 2 semesters of correspondence (1 year) BA program —  170 000 — 180 000 rubles

Approximate tuition fees for 2 semesters of (1 year) MA program —  280 000 — 300 000 rubles

Approximate tuition fees for 2 semesters of (1 year) PhD program —  300 000 rubles

 

Step 3

Apply for studies

  1. Make scans of the following documents
  • the first page of the passport;
  • translation of the passport into Russian, certified by a notary;
  • a document on the last education with legalization / apostille (to check if your documents  require legalization here: https://nic.gov.ru/en/proc/nic/legalize — multiple languages) and a notarized translation into Russian;
  • photo 3х4
  1. Upload scans to MPGU applicant’s account

  3. Some applicants need to email additional documents at apply@mpgu.su:

Musicians applying for BA and MA programs need to send a portfolio in which they mention place of their previous musical studies, musical instrument and attach a 5-8 minutes video of their musical performance.

 

Painters applying to BA and MA programs should attach their art portfolio.

All PhD applicants should send

  • CV in Russian with the list of published works (if there are any)
  • a reference paper (10-15 pages) on the chosen topic of the future PhD graduation thesis. Requirements to the reference paper are the same as for MA thesis

Wait for the official MPGU answer confirming that your documents were received

Rossotrudnichestvo applicants

Should contact faculty supervisor (http://mpgu.su/obrazovanie/obuchenie-inostrannyih-uchashhihsya-2/) and start studies

Contract applicants (paid tuition)

  • Pass entrance tests held at MPGU in September and October. You will receive an email with your results. Lowest passing score: 50. Russian state exam results make up for entrance tests.
  • Sign a contract with MPGU
  • Pay for tuition until October 24
  • Contact faculty supervisor (http://mpgu.su/obrazovanie/obuchenie-inostrannyih-uchashhihsya-2/) and start attending classes

 

Application procedure for an apprenticeship program

Start of studies: all year around

Period of studies: from 1 month to 1 year

 

Types of Apprenticeship

language: studying Russian from A0 to C1 level (if such group is formed)

subject: attending classes and receiving consultations from a teacher

mixed: studying Russian and attending courses

scientific: receiving consultations from a teacher and studying in a library

Contract applicants (paid tuition) should also make an individual plan with time period of studies and goals of apprenticeship, coordinated and signed by Head of department

Application procedure for a Russian as a foreign language program

Tuition fees for 2021/2022 

Approximate tuition fees for an apprenticeship program —  260 000 — 270 000 rubles per 1 academic year (2 semesters)

Period of studies:

  • 1 academic year course — October-June
  • 1,5 academic year course — February-June

Students receive a certificate confirming their language level (A2-B2) after studies.

Citizens of the countries that Russia opened borders to study offline.

Citizens of the countries that Russia has not opened borders to study online.

 

How to enter Russia if borders are open

Visa-free countries (Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, South Ossetia)

 

  • at least 10 days prior to entrance to Russia send an email indicating day and time of your arrival at foreign@mpgu.su.
  • have negative Covid test results in under 72 hours before crossing Russian border
  • after arrival within 3 days make PCR test
  • self-quarantine until you receive negative test results

Visa countries

Applying through Rossotrudnichestvo 

  • receive information on your visa status https://education-in-russia.com/
  • go to Russian embassy/consulate с информацией о визовом указании и and apply for a 3 months single entry visa
  • at least 10 days prior to entrance to Russia, send an email with day and time of your arrival at foreign@mpgu.su
  • receive negative Covid test results in under 72 hours before crossing Russian border
  • after arrival within 3 days make PCR test
  • self-quarantine until you receive negative test results

 

Contract applicants (paid tuition)

  • submit documents to receive an MPGU invitation: http://mpgu.su/ob-mpgu/mezhdunarodnaya-deyatelnost/pasportno-vizovyj-otdel/
