Moscow Pedagogical State University starts the 2020/2021 academic year following the necessary precautions against the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. The University ensures wearing face masks, disinfection of rooms, halls, elevators, stairs and other spaces. Body temperature is measured with non-contact thermometers at the entrance. People showing signs of fever or acute respiratory viral infections are not allowed on the territory of the university.
If students show signs of SARS, they must warn supervisor or the administration of the faculty / institute about their condition and are exempt from attending classes. When such signs appear, students are strongly advised to seek medical help and undergo testing for the coronavirus infection.
Temporary recommendations on the organization of educational process in case of continuation or complication of the epidemiological situation for the period of the beginning of the 2020/21 academic year were approved, providing for three educational options: full-time, part-time and distance learning. All orders are uploaded on the Russian version of the website.
Coronavirus Q&A:
How studies will be organized in the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year in the context of the continued unfavorable epidemiological situation?
In the first semester of the 2020/21 academic year education from September 1 to September 13 will be carried out online via InfoDa MPGU exclusively using e-learning and distance learning technologies.
From September 14 educational process is planned to be implemented in a mixed format: all lectures and consultations of teachers will be conducted online using various electronic technologies. Practical and laboratory classes for BA students of 1-3 year will be held in classrooms, taking into account safety and health requirements. Modern university educational technologies will also make it possible to teach some practical classes online.
What’s in store for freshmen in September?
From 1 to 13 September, freshmen will go through the period of adaptation to the educational university environment, which is traditional for MPGU. In the current situation the adaptation period will also be carried out online in InfoDe MPGU.
Teachers are already developing online courses aimed not only at mastering the basics of their future professional activities, but also allowing them to immerse in a new educational environment, get acquainted with traditions, scientists and teachers, authors of the most famous school and university textbooks.
In two weeks freshmen will also learn how to work in the electronic educational environment, receive student cards, educational literature and access to the electronic library.
The adaptation module will be opened by the traditional university event «MPGU 2020 Knowledge Day», which this year was broadcasted.
What changes await senior students, part-time and correspondence students, undergraduates and postgraduates in the new academic year?
4-5 year undergraduate students, as well as all full-time and part-time, graduate and postgraduate students from September 14 to December 31 will continue their studies using online technologies, which will allow them to combine professional activities (if any) with studies. As for undergraduates, undergraduates and graduate students, it will provide an opportunity to focus on the preparation of the final qualification work and thesis.
In addition, professional experience can be counted as industrial practice.
How will creative activities and physical education classes be organized?
Creative classes for undergraduate and graduate students in Design and Arts and Crafts will be held in classrooms, taking into account the necessary sanitary safety requirements.
PE and sports classes will be held, whenever possible, in the fresh air, as well as in gyms, taking into account the necessary requirements.
How will the teaching practical classes be organized?
By agreement with specialized organizations, students’ practice can also be organized in a mixed format. Also, MPGU has experience in the implementation of so-called quasi-practices that allow to study educational process at school through lesson analysis, modeling educational situations using materials from different platforms.
